Budabar's connections are hoping another quiet ride will again do the trick, this time at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
The last-start winner is trained by the partnership of brothers Jim and Greg Lee at Randwick and lines up in the Orange Grove Handicap (1200m).
He comes into the race after a Melbourne Cup day triumph at Randwick over 1300 metres.
The four-year-old was worse than midfield for most of that race with Jamie Innes moving him to fifth spot near the 400 metres.
Budabar let down with a strong run and defeated the leader Guderian by a short half-head.
A start earlier, Budabar was close to the speed in third place behind the winner Hussenor at Canterbury in a 1200-metre race but was flat to the boards on straightening and faded badly to be ninth.
"The plan was to ride him a bit quieter last start instead of riding him for speed, we don't think he's suited as much going forward, Jamie is on again and knows what to do," Greg Lee said.
"He showed that he's a nice class of horse when you look at who ran second, he goes well Guderian."
The Paul Perry-trained Guderian franked the form in Budabar's race when he came out and won his next start on November 14 at a Saturday meeting at Rosehill over 1500 metres.
Lee is hoping Wednesday's race will be a springboard to better things.
"We'll go for this race and then he'll go towards a Saturday race and if he wins that he'll step up in grade again," he said.
As a two-year-old, Budabar was four lengths third to the Kris Lees-trained filly Samantha Miss in a 1150-metre race at Randwick in March last year.
Samantha Miss went on to be a champion, winning the Champagne Stakes, Silver Shadow, Furious, Tea Rose and Flight Stakes before her third in last year's Cox Plate.
A start later she scored a 3-1/2 length romp in the Group One VRC Oaks.
Budabar is building a strong record with four wins and four placings from his 15 starts.
One of the hardest for him to beat at Warwick Farm looks to be the Peter Snowden-trained Pinwheel.
The lightly-raced Lonhro four-year-old is racing first-up after just over a year on the sidelines.
Pinwheel won at Canterbury on October 8 last year and has not raced since his second to Zarock a month later at Randwick.
