Plenty of big runs from the fillies at Caulfield on Saturday over the 1100m of the Quezette (Metonymy and Mosheen in particular!), but for my Thousand Guineas preview, I'd prefer to focus on five of the lesser-known selections that still represent excellent value at this early stage. I'll be interested to see if Darley's Commands filly Appearance ($26) ends up on the Guineas trail. From just two starts she has recorded a good strong win on a heavy track at Canterbury and an excellent second (from last at the 400m) behind the very talented male juvenile Aeronautical over the 1200m at Randwick. Keep her very safe if she returns from her freshen any time soon. Another Darley filly that I like is Euryale ($41). This daughter of Lonhro defeated the males over 1600m in the Gibson Carmichael at Flemington at just her third start, and definitely appears to have a future. She might be looking for even further than the mile but at this stage I wouldn't rule the Guineas out altogether...

Secret Status ($41) is another interesting one who I think might slip under the radar. The South Australian filly won very nicely on debut in the listed Cinderella Stakes, jumping slowly but exhibiting an impressive turn of foot to defeat a small field of six by one length. I think she can go on to bigger and better things this campaign.

I also have a very big opinion of the Western Australian filly Bliss Street ($41) and hope that she ends up targeting the Guineas. Her 2L win in the G3 Sires Produce (1400m) in her home state was most impressive and this well-bred conveyance looks a monty to run out the 1600m.

And finally, Mick Kent's Stravinsky filly Ervbefel ($41) ran very nicely first-up at Caulfield on Saturday - despite getting into a heap of trouble - and should only improve over more ground. She looks an excellent 1400m prospect and is worth following as the distances increase.
