Looks like we have a 'new' way of beating the official 'court system' when things don't go the way of the stewards...What do they do? They start poring over the transcripts of the appeal. What they are looking for - only they know. This all relates to the Talia Rodder Case. Latest news reports say Racing Victoria stewards have started a review of the controversial matter. We all remember the details - stewards suspended Rodder for six weeks for breaching ARR135(b), alleging the apprentice failed to give Serene Tanie the opportunity to obtain the best possible placing at Moonee Valley on November 19. The Victorian Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board overturned Rodder's suspension on appeal last month. But now, it's reported, Racing Victoria's general manager of integrity Dayle Brown has told the Herald-Sun the department is 'reviewing the transcripts' of the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board hearing into the matter.

So what does all this mean for Talia Rodder, for racing and for the appeal process? If we knew what the stewards were looking for it would be easy to answer this question. Is it just a case of sour grapes that the appeal was lost? Are they still trying to pin something sinister on Talia Rodder and the connections of Serene Tanie? We might also ask if it's OK for Racing Victoria to start what seems like a new inquiry despite the matter being thrown out on appeal? When does the ordeal end for Talia Rodder? This looks like a good case for strong action from the Jockeys Association.

Racing Victoria is switching Tuesday week's Kilmore meeting to Kyneton after the track failed to measure up during a series of jumpouts on Monday.
