Racing Victoria has released the latest news on a string of major mprosp[ects for the spring racing period.

Carlton House: Back in work and is set to return in a barrier trial in July. No first up run locked in at this stage with the main aim the Sportingbet Cox Plate. Trainer Gai Waterhouse has reported that Carlton House will do all his racing in Melbourne this campaign.

“He’ll have a trial in about three weeks and then I’m looking at the Cox Plate and the Mackinnon” – trainer Gai Waterhouse, June 20.

Cauthen: Returned to work in June after a five-month, injury-enforced break. Resumes in the Group 1 Mafki Challenge Stakes (1400m) in New Zealand in August with the main Spring target the Sportingbet Cox Plate (2040m).

“His first run over here will be in the Group 1, 1400m race we won previously with (Lord) Tavistock, and if he performed well or won, he’d be over in Australia in a flash” – trainer Andrew Campbell, June 19.

Chivalry: Returned to Mark Kavanagh’s Flemington stable in June and is on a path towards the BECK Caulfield Guineas (1600m) in October. Will resume sometime in August in one of the feature three-year-old sprints.

Commanding Jewel: Currently having a short break before returning to work for the Spring. No races locked in at this stage but will likely follow a weight-for-age path towards Sportingbet Cox Plate.

Cornrow: Returned to work on May 26 and is on a path towards the Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill in September as well as the BECK Caulfield Guineas (1600m).

Criterion: Returned to work in May and is expected to be ready to trial around the beginning of August. Could return via the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 30 with his main aim the Sportingbet Cox Plate (2040m) in October.

Dissident: Returned to work on Monday June 16 at trainer Peter Moody’s Eagle Farm stable. Will be aimed towards the Sportingbet Cox Plate (2040m).

Earthquake: Back in work and set to resume in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on September 6. Her next start in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on September 20 will determine whether she continues on to the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) two weeks later or is freshened for the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington in November.

Eloping: Back in work following a five-week break, with the first-up target Group 3 Champagne Stakes at Moonee Valley in late-Septemeber.

“She spelled ok, she always looks after herself. I think she’s grown a bit, so yeah we’re really happy. Her first goal will be the Group 3 Champagne Stakes at the Valley at the end of September." - trainer Peter Morgan, June 26.

El Roca: Set to resume in the Group 3 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) at Flemington on September 13, the colt's early target is the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 28.

Go Indy Go:Back in work after a seven-week break with the first target the Schweppes Thousand Guineas (1600m). Could resume in either Adelaide or Melbourne with the Crown Oaks (2500m) likely to be her grand final.

Happy Trails – Returned to work in May after an injury-enforced break. Set to resume in the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville in August with the main goal the Sportingbet Cox Plate.

Ihtsahymn: Will race exclusively in Western Australia this spring, before a possible Autumn Carnival campaign if he can win again as a four-year-old.

Kirramosa: Back in work since May after an operation to remove bone chips from a fetlock. Set to resume in Sydney in August before being aimed towards the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.

Lankan Rupee: Back in work and being set for five-run Spring campaign beginning in the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley in September.

Then heads to the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1200m) and Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley before the Group 1 VRC Sprint Classic (1200m).

Final run could be in either the Hong Kong International Sprint (1200m) or the Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) in Perth.

Marcado: Back in work with the current aim the BECK Caulfield Guineas (1600m) in October. Set to resume in the three-year-old sprints in August.

Rubick: Having returned to the stable in May he is set to return in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill in Sydney on August 16. On a path towards the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington in November, that hinges on his performance in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) in September.

“The Danehill is crucial because it gives him that experience up the straight before his main target. If he doesn’t handle going up the straight that early in the season you can always divert your plans and go elsewhere.” – trainer Gerald Ryan, May 19.

Samaready: Currently in pre-training at Vinery Stud. Returns to trainer Mick Price's stable in July. No first up run locked in at this stage but has returned in good order and a Spring preparation appears likely. 


“We’ve got two-and-half months to get her organised and get her mind on the job but if she continues looking the way she looks at the moment, she’ll race on" - Vinery Stud General Manager Peter Orton June 24.

Sertorius: Returned to work in June and is set to resume in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 30. Then heads to the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600) two weeks later with the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington in October to determine whether he goes to either the Caulfield Cup (2400m) or Sportingbet Cox Plate (2040m) en route to the Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m). 

"This is probably as good as I've ever seen him so we're hoping this will be the best preparation he has. We'll go to the Turnbull and then make a decision on whether we go to the Caulfield Cup or wait the extra week and go to the Cox Plate" - co-trainer Jamie Edwards, June 24. 

Silent Achiever: Back in work, will start her campaign in Melbourne in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 30. Sportingbet Cox Plate a likely target, but an Emirates Melbourne Cup tilt yet to be decided.

“She’s back in work and doing well and at this stage I’m planning to run her first-up in the Memsie Stakes on August 30 and I haven’t finalised anything after that,” trainer Roger James -Theinformant.co.nz on June 19.

Solicit : Has returned to Ellerton-Zahra Racing's Flemington stable, but has not got a solid aim for the Spring Carnival. Could be a potential Cox Plate/Caulfield Cup contender, or restrited to races up to 1600m.

“We don’t know whether she’s a bit too brilliant to step up in distance in the spring or whether we should keep her to that sprinter/miler distance and target the Sir Rupert Clarke and the Myer." - trainer trainer Mathew Ellerton, June 22.
