Shoot Out gunned down Monton in the final stride to win consecutive Chipping Norton Stakes at Warwick Farm. The Chris Waller trained galloper showed his class in a field packed with nine individual Group 1 winners to reign supreme by a short head with stablemate Danleigh a further half length away in third. Monton looked to have the race won as he skipped clear inside the final furlong but a booming finish by Shoot Out, a well supported favourite, denied Christian Reith and trainer Ron Quinton.

Few could have imagined after the Leone Chiara scandal that Craig Newitt would ever ride for Danny O'Brien, let alone win a Group 1 race for the Flemington trainer. But time has heeled that wound. Newitt guided the O'Brien-trained Shamexpress to victory in Saturday's $1 million Group 1 Lexus Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington. Shamexpress ($15) defeated Lightning Stakes runner-up Moment of Change ($3.20 favourite) by a short head with Aeronautical ($81) surging along the inside of horses for third a further nose adrift.

Jimmy Cassidy believes Dear Demi won't be beaten again this preparation after her dominant performance in the Surround Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm. The Clarry Conners trained filly showed great improvement from her first-up run, surging from the tail of the field to run down Driefontein by a neck with Longport a further two and a half lengths away in third. "I told Singo (owner John Singleton) that they won't beat her again after the first-up run and I think she could prove me right," Cassidy said. (source - TVN Racing Network).
