Bart Sinclair, the 'king' of Queensland's racing press, has handed out a stinging attack on the State Govt and its 7-member supremo racong control body. Bart Sinclair, the 'king' of Queensland's racing press, has handed out a stinging attack on the State Govt and its 7-member supremo racong control body. Bart, writing in his Sunday Mail column, says: 'The Bligh Government has confirmed what racing people suspected for a long time...The legislation to give the new control body unfettered powers over the three racing codes is based on class warfare...Debate on the legislation in State Parliament was littered with references to the toffs who are perceived to run racing....In 2010, it is a myth that the personalities the labour movement detests have control...The new Act is designed to give Racing Queensland the ability to usurp anything the race clubs do or own. A phrase like "Hamilton chardonnay drinkers" is demeaning to all the hard-working people who freely give their time to keep race meetings going in every corner of the state. It's insulting to every owner, breeder, trainer and jockey.'

Bart's attack continues: 'The doubt this legislation creates is unfair and grossly disturbing to racing's battlers who are the backbone of the industry - the stablehands and work riders who get up at four every morning to tend the horses and dogs. Their local racetrack is now under the hammer. They are uncertain of their future. Why? So Racing Minister Peter Lawlor and his parliamentary mates can brag they helped wrest control from the Tory "born-to-rule" administrators and hand complete control to a private company of seven people accountable to no one in the industry.
