He says: 'Sometimes you can see a shoe when it is coming at you but in this case it came from the side...I spent a couple of hours in hospital, they did all the basic tests, made sure I was switched on while looking for a brain. They were happy there was no concussion.'

Can the vastly improved Belltone win over 1600m? We'll find out on Saturday. The Kelso Wood-trained galloper is the pre-post fav in the Listed Tattersall's Mile (1600m) at Eagle Farm. Belltone won the Listed Eye Liner Stakes (1350m) at Ipswich on June 16 before giving Chris Munce his record-breaking 100th Brisbane metropolitan winner this season in the Glasshouse Handicap (1400m) at the Sunshine Coast. The big query is whether the brilliant Belltone can win at the mile. He hasn't yet won beyond 1400m though he's raced only twice beyond that mark for a 4th over 1500m at Eagle Farm and a 4th at Doomben 1640m, both back in 2010. Bookies have Belltone at $2.40 for the Tatts Mile. Adnocon is on the second line at $3.90. Norm Hilton's Carry Me Bluey is the only other runner under double figure odds at $4.90.

UK news...Japanese runner Deep Brillante has shortened from 20/1 into 16/1 for Saturday night's King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. The 3YO won the Japanese Derby in Tokyo in May. Japanese runners have done well in the race in the past. UK bookies have last year's winner Nathaniel one of three 11/4 co-favorites following his Eclipse win. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Sea Moon and Aidan O'Brien's St Nicholas Abbey share the favoritism.
