The John Moore-trained Packing Whiz gets a chance to present his international credentials in the Sa Sa Ladies' Purse (1,800m) at Sha Tin today and give the stable back-to-back victories in the event.

While the Ladies' Purse has been tagged a Group Three, it is framed and populated more like a standard Class One, as it was when Moore won with Jacobee last year, even with the higher-class performers Liberator and Dominant at the top of the weights.

So, the step from his first-up Class Two win is not quite as large as might be thought for Packing Whiz (Brett Prebble) but, make no mistake, this wide-open race is riddled with trap doors.

When it comes to Packing Whiz, the questions are just how fit he is stepping up to 1,800m after Moore conceded the four-year-old won first-up despite being short of fitness. Now he goes up in grade, up 200m and he still have to prove himself to some extent at 1,800m, despite having won over it in April.

That was a very steadily run race which didn't test Packing Whiz's stamina as much as his ability to accelerate and he showed that in spades - he has a turn of foot that marks him as a potential Group performer but whether as a miler or over further remains to be seen.

Scarlet Camellia (Richard Fourie) is another who has looked strong at 1,600m, and long shaped like he would run further, but he takes his first run at it today.

At least he has an ideal draw to camp just behind the lead and relax. He was a warm favourite when he was beaten after a tough run behind Packing Whiz, but deserves another chance.
