Barrier two, strong recent form and 118 pounds mean it will be Showtime for trainer John Size at Happy Valley tomorrow night (Wednesday) and the flashy chestnut is an ideal banker in the Triple Trio, which is expected to yield a HK$8 million dividend. Showtime has placed twice over the 1,200 metres from barriers eight and nine at the Valley this season but, from an inside draw this time, the Faltaat gelding should be back in the winner's stall after the running of the Chantilly Trophy Handicap.

The 68-rater was well educated at the city track at his first six starts, before Size switched him to Sha Tin for a hat-trick of wins over the 1,200m course to finish the season in style.

Showtime then resumed with a third to Super Plus over 1,200m at Happy Valley, before jumping up to 1,400m for the first time at Sha Tin where he tired after being caught three deep without cover.

Back to his pet trip and back at the Valley last time, he grabbed a fast-finishing third behind Rainbow Seeker from an awkward gate. This time, he should be positioned much closer to the pace by Keith Yeung Ming-lun.

A good tempo in the middle leg should ensure he gets his chance to show off his solid turn of foot and his followers can expect him to swoop down the centre to grab the leaders and one of the top three positions.

Go Fay Fay and Par Excellence appear his biggest dangers on the "B" course and both should be hitting the line strongly, but will be giving Showtime a start on the turn.

Tye Angland takes the ride on Go Fay Fay after Weichong Marwing elected to stick with Par Excellence, but both jockeys will need to time their runs to perfection to overpower the Size-trained runner.

Par Excellence beat Showtime home last start to grab second behind Rainbow Seeker, but Marwing had the luxury of camping on Douglas Whyte's back throughout that race and got the drop on Showtime at the finish.

Other potential candidates include Brett Prebble's mount, My Time, in-form Achilles Of Troy and Soaring River, who should get a gun run from gate five.

The opening leg looks an ideal event for the Manfred Man Ka-leung-trained Diamond Rainbow to open his account.
