The John Moore-trained three-year-old Time After Time has plenty of weight to carry in the Bravo Handicap (1,000m) tonight at Happy Valley, but the promising young sprinter can overcome that and a couple of other handy rivals. Without a feature or even a Class Two on the card as the season winds down, it is low-key racing at the Valley, but Time After Time (Darren Beadman) can at least claim to be one of the most promising runners on the card in the Class Three sprint.
With just five starts, Time After Time is untapped, however, he gave a hint of his future in higher grades scoring impressively over 1,200m at the Valley last month.
He has had excuses since, but his third down the straight course at Sha Tin behind two other classy young horses in Bear Hero and Eagle Regiment 11 days ago showed he was back on song.
From gate two, Time After Time was disadvantaged against the first two placegetters who were drawn in the middle and he doesn't have the pace to overcome that sort of positioning. But he stuck to his guns, running into third in the final 100m, and that will be where he should be arriving again.
The distance is on the short side for the son of Danehill Dancer, but he has had a tendency to overrace at 1,200m when beaten which should be helped by the pace of the 1,000m contest.
