SOUTHERN Speed's spring carnival plans remain on track with the star stayer recovering well after pulling up sore in her comeback on Saturday, reports the Adelaide Advertiser.

Its report adds: The Caulfield Cup champ flew home to grab third behind Happy Trails in the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville, but stewards found her to be lame in the near-fore hoof after her storming finish.

Andrew Gluyas, who trains the mare with his father-in-law Leon Macdonald, is happy with how she's progressed and doesn't think there'll be any problems going forward.

"She's fine, she pulled up well," Gluyas said yesterday.

The Southern Image five-year-old will have a quiet week on the training track before galloping on Tuesday. Gluyas still plans to run her in the Listed Penny Edition Stakes (1400m) at Morphettville Parks on Saturday week.
