Plans are in place for New Zealand mare Scarlett Lady to conduct an eastern states raid herself this season.

The four-year-old, who was one-time Melbourne Cup favourite last spring before injury stopped her progress in September, has won both races from a spell at home and her trainer Graeme Rogerson said yesterday she posed the greatest threats to imports Americain and Manighar in the $2.25 million BMW Stakes at Rosehill next month.

Scarlett Lady is coming off a stirring group 1 New Zealand Stakes win at the weekend, where she proved to Rogerson that she was on target to produce her best when she is flown into Sydney next week for the group 1 Ranvet Stakes at Rosehill on March 24.

''She's got that much improvement to come from that run and there's no doubt she's over that injury and on her way,'' he said.

''She's a good horse, a very good horse, probably the best staying filly we've had for a while.'' (www.theage.com.au)
