HE WILL probably always be known as the horse that St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt part-owns, but trainer Mick Price expects Our Baby Bonus to soon forge a name for himself as a quality sprinter, reports The Age.

Its report adds: At Moonee Valley tomorrow, Our Baby Bonus steps out to attempt to extend his record to four starts for four wins in the 1000-metre dash for three-year-olds, and Price believes the grey could be a stakeswinner before his winter campaign is done.

''He definitely has stakes potential and he'll be given a chance at that level,'' the trainer said. ''He's come back [from a spell] in good order and the future's pretty bright I think. He's a super beginner who gives himself every chance and I'm happy with him going into this race on the score of fitness, as he performed well here in a 650-metre trial and galloped well last Saturday on the course proper.''

Our Baby Bonus already has achieved some fame from humble beginnings. Not only are Riewoldt and former Saint forward Fraser Gehrig among his 10 owners, the three-year-old is surely one of the better-named horses in Australia. His sire is former group 1 winner Dash For Cash and his dam is former Tasmanian galloper Mother To Be. Price purchased Our Baby Bonus at the Melbourne autumn yearling sales for $42,500 after being taken with the grey's athletic appearance. In his three winning efforts last summer, he has already earned $148,575 in prizemoney.
