THE premiership race for leading jockey, trainer and apprentice will all go down to the wire, after Damien Oliver drew level with Craig Williams on 70 wins at Moonee Valley yesterday, reports The Sunday Age.

It adds: Oliver, who won the last two races on the card, said he was looking forward to the final day of the season at Betfair Park on Wednesday.

"It's going to be a great climax to a great season for both of us. I think we both have some good rides so it will be an interesting day," Oliver said after winning the last race on Commanding Hope.

Oliver said he was mindful that Commanding Hope ($3.70 equal favourite) has a short sharp sprint so held him up for as long as possible before sweeping down the outside to beat In The Shadows by a half-neck with Oliver admitting that he could hear the crowd urging him on.

"Usually you don't pick up a lot from the crowd but I certainly heard a few yelling out, 'Go Ollie' and it was a real buzz," he said.
