PETER Moody has always had a good opinion of Huegill and the promising colt stamped himself as a possible Caulfield Guineas chance with an impressive win in the PFD Handicap (1400 metres) at Sandown yesterday, reports The Age (www.theage.com.au)

He joins last week's Sandown winner Moment Of Change and Saturday's Caulfield Guineas Prelude entrant Golden Archer as Moody's remaining three guineas contenders. Huegill ($2.25 favourite) settled back along the rails, with the heavily supported Rescue Mission ($5.50 to $3.60) setting the speed.

Jockey Luke Nolen was able to ease him off the fence from the 600 metres and, once balanced, Huegill ran home strongly to grab Rescue Mission inside the 200 metres to win by 1╝ lengths.

''He got no favours and was pushed off the track on the turn, but finished off well,'' Moody said. ''He's a very good colt but is still learning what it's all about.''

While confident about the future for Huegill, Moody is concerned he might not be mentally tough enough for such a high-pressure race as the guineas at this stage of his career and says how his possible opposition goes in the next two weeks will have a big bearing on how far he pushes on this campaign
