WHOBEGOTYOU heads to Moonee Valley on Saturday trying to win his third Dato Dan Chin Nam Stakes, but one trainer not daunted by the task of toppling the favourite is Alcopop's mentor Jake Stephens, reports The Age.

It says: Alcopop, trained in South Australia, scored a strong second-up win in the Penny Edition Stakes (1400 metres) at Morphettville last start.

''Last year we had to run first-up in the Penny Edition and then run him second-up over 1600 and it took a bit out of him, so we arrived in Melbourne a little underdone,'' Stephens said. A year later, Stephens says he has Alcopop fitter and had considered running the seven-year-old in the Makybe Diva Stakes last weekend before electing to give him an extra week and race at Moonee Valley.

''He came through the Penny Edition really well and it was a good win against the bias because it was on the inside track and that suits those up on the pace,'' he said.

While Whobegotyou has won five from seven starts at Moonee Valley, Stephens has no reason to be scared. Alcopop has won three of his four starts over 1600 and is one win from two starts at Moonee Valley.
