STRUGGLING under a mountain of debt of more than $1 million, brothel owner and renowned punter Eddie Hayson has given away his last racehorse to a bookmaker, reports the Daily Telegraph.

It says: Just weeks after it emerged the colourful Sydney identity owed bookie Tom Waterhouse more than $1 million, The Daily Telegraph can reveal Hayson has offered ownership of boom colt Wanted to the Sportsbet corporate bookmaking agency in the Northern Territory.

A Sportsbet executive applied to Racing NSW by email this week to have the horse's registration papers changed to his name in time for the lucrative spring carnival.

When contacted about the deal last night, Sportsbet chief executive Matthew Tripp initially said he could not make any comment for "24 to 48 hours". He later denied any knowledge of the deal.

It can also be revealed that Melbourne bookmaker Michael Eskander has launched legal action in the Victorian Supreme Court to recover more than $300,000 owed to him by Hayson, despite taking bets from Hayson as recently as last Saturday. Eskander last night refused to divulge the amount owed to him by Hayson.
