DAVID Hayes has dumped Caulfield Cup-winning jockey Brad Rawiller from Extra Zero and replaced him with older brother Nash for the Victoria Derby, reports Ray Thomas in the Courier Mail-Daily Telegraph.

His report adds: The Hall of Fame trainer revealed his plans to keep the jockey switch "all in the family" after being critical of Rawiller's ride on Extra Zero when unplaced in last week's AAMI Vase.

"Brad produced a Hall of Fame ride to win the Caulfield Cup (Viewed) but his ride on my three-year-old last week wasn't his best and, to be fair to Brad, he apologised immediately after the race," Hayes said at Flemington trackwork yesterday. "So, we had a think about it and the decision has been made - the older brother is going on. Both Rawiller brothers have ridden the horse this spring and it was a toss- up who we put on last week and I went for Brad. But the owners feel more comfortable going with Nash for the Victoria Derby."

Nash Rawiller, 35, conceded he had mixed feelings when it was confirmed he was replacing his brother on Extra Zero in the $1.5 million classic.

"Obviously I'm disappointed for Brad but this is the business we are in," Nash said. "This sort of thing happens in racing all the time.

"Most of my family are involved in racing and we made a pact a long time ago that we would never let a horse interfere with our friendship.

"I'm glad it was me who picked up the ride, not someone else, and if I can win the Derby on Extra Zero I'm sure the first person who would want to congratulate me would be Brad."
