HARNESS RACING NSW chief executive Sam Nati says people ''are going to lose their houses'' if found guilty in the swabbing scandal rocking the pacing world, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

It says: The investigation continues into trainers allegedly having prior knowledge their horses would not be swabbed in certain races. Nati wants to ''throw the book'' at those bringing the sport into disrepute, and said HRNSW was prepared to take civil action to defend its integrity.

''It's a fact Harness Racing NSW will proceed with this [matter] on a civil level. They are going to lose their houses over this, some of these people,'' Nati said.

Stewards Paul O'Toole and Matthew Bentley resigned on Monday after being informed of allegations they had not taken pre- and post-race swabs from certain horses in certain races.
