A CRACK at another Cox Plate for John Singleton's outstanding home-bred, More Joyous, is on the agenda, reports Craig Young in the Sydney Morning Herald.

His report adds: Trainer Gai Waterhouse and jockey Nash Rawiller, along with Singleton's veterinarian John Peatfield and racing manager Duncan Grimley, will discuss the Cox Plate option today. ''If the four geniuses advise the sucker owner to go that way, she will,'' Singleton told the Herald yesterday. ''If it is two-all, I might have to cast the deciding vote. Prizemoney for the Myer Stakes is $500,000, the Cox Plate $3 million.''

A five-time group 1 winner, More Joyous was expected to have a light spring after recovering from a tendon injury. Singleton believes the injury occurred when beaten as favourite in the Doncaster Mile in April. The owner-breeder has vowed not to start the mare on a heavy track again.

''She was only a 10 per cent chance of racing in the spring, the tendon was that bad,'' Singleton said. ''She was boxed at my property for six weeks, boxed in a tiny yard for six weeks. She went to Gai with a light, three-race preparation in mind.''
