Never scared to test his horses at the highest level, trainer Anthony Cummings is hoping to cause a second upset result in a feature straight race in recent months when his improving sprinter Fontelina tackles the group 1 Newmarket Handicap on Saturday.
Cummings produced Fontelina to win the group 2 Yellowglen/Salinger Stakes at Flemington on Derby day last year, knocking off the highly touted Howmuchdoyouloveme and group 1 performer Spirit Of Boom in the manner of a horse deserving regular group 1 contests.
On Saturday, Fontelina meets group 1 winner and Lightning Stakes runner-up Moment Of Change, a horse trainer Peter Moody believes is the second best in his stable, and unbeaten West Australian Barakey, but Cummings has been impressed with his gelding's work and fears no rival in the $1 million contest.
''He had a jump-out two weeks ago at Randwick and went to the line with a pretty good sprinter from Gosford [Hay List]. He went to the line with that horse so I'm pretty pleased with him,'' said Cummings. ''He'll have another jump-out in the morning [Tuesday] down the straight to top him off.''

Jump-outs aside, Cummings is aware the four-year-old will need to improve from his spring form to figure in the finish on Saturday.
