AFTER a poor start cost her any chance of victory in last Saturday's Queensland Oaks, the John Sadler-trained Heidilicious will barrier trial at Eagle Farm this morning in a last-minute bid to force her way into the $500,000 Queensland Derby field on Saturday, reports The Age.

It says: ''She has to barrier trial to get her [barrier] ticket and we are going to put a barrier blanket on to try to get her away better. We'll make a decision after that, but if she does everything right and comes through it well, she'll run in the Derby,'' said Troy Corstens, who is deputising for Sadler in Brisbane.

Corstens said it would not be the end of the world if Heidilicious did not push on to the Derby.

''She's a three-year-old by Zabeel and she's got the rest of her career ahead of her, so we're not panicking at the moment. We all know the Zabeels can be a bit cantankerous, but they get better with age,'' he said.

If Heidilicious does head towards the Derby, it will force highly rated stablemate The Chevron further down the order of entry, with Oaks winner Scarlett Lady also a strong possibility to back up in the Derby, as well as the Oaks runner-up Becerra, who is likely to be a late nomination.
