Chris Symons returned to the winner's stall in style today scoring a double at Sale including an impressive victory aboard the Alison Bennett-trained New York in the $75,000 GBG Concrete Sale Quality (1200m).

Symons, who made his return to the racetrack in Adelaide yesterday where he had three unplaced rides at Morphettville, missed over four months after his foot was smashed in a freakish accident.

Sent out the $3.40 favourite, Symons positioned New York with only three behind him in running before bringing the lightly-raced son of Statue Of Liberty to the outside in the home straight.

Though he still had plenty of ground to make up on the leaders, the five-year-old proved a class above the opposition hitting the lead at the 200 before racing away to score by over two lengths ahead of Storm Burst ($3) with Tanjil ($31) further back in third.

The victory gave Bennett her second Sale Quality in three years after King Hoaks, who was unplaced in today's race, took out the 2011 edition of the famous Gippsland sprint.

It was in Race 5 however where Symons first broke through partnering the Ray Besanko-trained Fierce Command to victory in the Newry Fencing Showcase (1600m) 0-68 Handicap.

Jumping from barrier three aboard the well-backed $2.20 favourite, with no speed in the race early Symons sent Fierce Command to the lead in a move that proved the winning one.

Travelling at his own leisure in front, once Symons asked Fierce Command for an effort in the home straight the four-year-old son of Commands exploded away from his rivals opening up a three length break on the chasing pack before going on to record a two length victory.

Fierce Command's victory also marked a double for the in-form trainer Ray Beskano who earlier trained Stiletto Rock to break her maiden in the second event on the program.
