KIWI stayer Castle Heights prevailed in a three-way finish to win yesterday's $150,000 Grafton Cup, reports John Schell in the Sydney Morning Herald.

He says: Ridden by resurgent jockey Stathi Katsidis, the Donna Logan-trained Castle Heights battled on to hold off the challenge of Queenslander Hume to score narrowly, with the Guy Walter-trained Twin Wing a close-up third. Logan trains at Ruakaka in New Zealand, and she has enjoyed group 1 success in Sydney with stayer Victory Smile, a winner of The Metropolitan in 2002. Castle Heights is expected to follow that lead and head to The Metropolitan at Randwick in the spring.

Katsidis, not long returned from a lengthy break through suspension and a knee injury, has enjoyed a good week, having won the Toowoomba Cup on Jussemi.
