Pensioner Staking Plan: 3

There were five bets yesterday: Scenic Shot (Win), Cezanne (Place), Music Review (Place), Theophorus (Place) and Hadabeclorka (Place). As all bets so far are on flat stakes, due to consistent collects, the outlay has been $10 returning $12.90.

It struck me this morning, while laying in bed thinking about my miserable days punting yesterday, that anyone following this thread would need to see more action than the 10 bets so far in order to see how the staking plan works. In my present modus operandi it could take several weeks, even a few months, to have a bad run where I could show you the strengths of the staking plan.

What I have decided is to run two other selection plans, alongside my personal selections, which will speed things up quite considerably. My current plan will be Plan A. Plan B will be a system based on a few simple rules using the Herald Sun newspaper covering the five states and about 40 races per Saturday. Plan C will use Plan B selections but with some elimination rules to tighten up the strike rate, hopefully. I will then be able to compare the three approaches: a system, a system with modifications and my better bets.of the day.

It is my intention, as we go along, to provide food for thought for those punters who have considered target betting as a betting option. Hopefully, the safety brakes I will outline which are very, very conservative and totally designed to make a profit and NOT to make $1 every race, even though this is the initial idea of the staking approach, will show this could be an option for the small punter. I certainly would not recommend target betting for the big bettor: the amounts involved would astronomical at times and would really be quite ridiculous to implement. As I explain things it will become apparent that conservatism MUST be the first stance and not blind courage or even stupidity.

I will be on holiday in Coolangatta next weekend so there will be no "better bets" available as I will be unable to do my podcast. However by Wednesday I will detail the selection plan so anyone with the Herald Sun will be available to work out the selections themselves.
