Plans for Lankan Rupee may change again just 24 hours after a trip to Hong Kong in December was dismissed, reports Racing Network.

Trainer Mick Price today (Tuesday) said the Group 1 $750,000 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) in Perth, after the VRC Carnival, was now a possibility.

“It’s worth $750,000 run at weight-for-age and although we have to travel a long way there’s no quarantine,” Price said.

“It’s being discussed, I can tell you that,” he added.

Lankan Rupee’s original plans had included a trip in December to the Group 1 $US2.2 million Hong Kong International Sprint (1200m) at Sha Tin, but that was ruled out yesterday.

The reason given was the amount of travel and the fact the trip could interfere with the horse being prepared and at his top for the Group 1 $2.5 million T. J. Smith Stakes (1200m), during The Championships in Sydney next autumn.

Lankan Rupee worked well at Caulfield this morning pleasing his trainer.

“He worked good, really good, but he came back and had a bit of a puff,” he started.

“He’s done very well since his first-up run.

"We’ll go to Moonee Valley when they next have the gallops there. I think he’s on target,” he added.

“The horse is great, he just needs to be a bit fitter,” Price concluded.
