LANKAN Rupee has a quarter-crack which has ruled out any plans to run him in the Schillaci Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday week, reports Racing Network.
Trainer Mick Price reported today the quarter crack was to the world champion's inside heel of his off front leg.
But, Price said Lankan Rupee would run in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley on October 24.
He said said the quarter crack had been wired and while he missed work yesterday he trotted and cantered today and appeared fine.
He said he did not want to "blast" another run into Lankan Rupee given the injury.
"He just needs a little more time," Price said.
Price said the issue had been reported to Racing Victoria chief steward Terry Bailey. Lankan Rupee has finished second in the McEwen and Moir Stakes in both runs this preparation.
