Champion jockey Damien Oliver pulled the right rein when he chose to ride Danleigh who overwhelmed his rivals in the last 200 metres to win the Group One All-Aged Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

Oliver rode the Chris Waller-trained five-year-old last start when second to Nicconi in the Group One The Galaxy but was also aboard beaten Doncaster Mile favourite All Silent who was unplaced in Saturday's 1400m weight-for-age feature.

"It was an early booking," Oliver said of the Danleigh ride.

"It was a super run (last start).

"The horse is flying."

Danleigh was having just his second start in more than a year, since he won the Group Three Liverpool City Cup (1300m) at Randwick in March 2008.

Oliver gave Danleigh time to find his feet early and brought him with a sustained run down the outside in the straight to overhaul Light Fantastic and the pacemaker Royal Discretion who fought on gallantly.
