Sunday's Benalla Cup will determine if dual Oaks runner-upZanbagh progresses on a cups campaign.
Trainer Patrick Payne said the mare would need to run well in the $100,000 race if she were to press on to the Caufield Cup.
Zanbagh, runner-up behind Kirramosa in the VRC Oaks and second behind Rising Romance in the ATC Oaks, is currently 25th in the order of entry for the Caulfield Cup.
Payne said Zanbagh had recovered from the heel issue that saw her scratched from the Naturalism Stakes at Caulfield on September 20.
"She is 100-percent okay, even (on the) Sunday morning she was 100-percent right," Payne said.
"We just erred on the side of caution. She just had a little bruising on the heel.
"We'll go on to the Benalla Cup and decide what we do after that. If she goes well enough in the Benalla Cup, I'm happy to run her in the Caulfield Cup.
"Fitness'wise she's not behind, she's okay. She missed that run but it didn't really matter."
Zanbagh is number 26 in the Melbourne Cup order of entry.
