Multiple Group 1 winning mare Streama will have a short Spring campaign in Sydney before being spelled. Trainer Guy Walter told Racing Network that because Streama had an autumn campaign and had raced twice in Brisbane during the carnival, she would not be going to Melbourne this Spring.

“She will kick off in the Warwick Stakes on August 24, but she will only be having a light preparation. She’ll run in a few of the early Spring races then she will be spelled and brought back to prepare for the Doncaster (Mile),” Walter said.

Streama ran third in the Stradbroke Handicap behind Linton and second in the Tatt’s Tiara to Red Tracer during the Brisbane Winter Carnival – both Group 1 races.  Already she has won the Flight Stakes and the AJC Oaks at Group 1 level for Walter.

Last Spring she came to Melbourne where she won the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes before starting $3.00 favourite and running eighth in the Group 1 Myer Classic on Victoria Derby Day.
