He cleared maidens at Pukekohe early in his current preparation, but then put in a pair of average efforts on the northern circuit. Stepping up to a middle distance next start appears to have been what he was looking for and he duly obliged when leading all the way at Te Rapa on June 9. He then stepped up to 2500m at Hastings and in the hands of Andrew Calder again looked impressive when leading throughout.
