This striking black gelding has really found his niche this preparation and I expect him to carry on the great work over the coming weeks as track conditions deteriorate. The sprinting son of Pyrus completed his last campaign with a fourth place effort at Ellerslie and was then dispatched on a lengthy spell in the paddock - almost seven months in fact. He struck all sorts of traffic problems fresh up at Ellerslie in late May and could well have won; going down by just a short margin. This form looked good and given a few weeks to get over that effort, lined up again at Ellerslie. His chances looked forlorn as he got well back in the running and again struck trouble - this time at the 800m. However, he finished like a train and cruised past his rivals to record a relatively comfortable victory.
