Until this mare greeted the judge at Te Awamutu in early July her greatest claim to fame had arguably been the four fourth places she chalked up in succession during the months of May and June. But it appears as though the step up to a middle-distance is all that the daughter of Hawkeye was looking for. Rider Jason Collett had her travelling well back in the R65 event, but cut the corner at the 600m to save a heap of ground on the heavy surface. She scooted through to hit the lead at the 300m and was untested up the short run home to secure the win by two lengths. There's no reason why she cannot continue in this type of form and rack up a further success or two while the tracks are wet.
