What's going on with the Lloyd Williams outfit at Mt Macedon? Is Robert Hickmott still his #1 trainer? What's going on with the Lloyd Williams outfit at Mt Macedon? Is Robert Hickmott still his #1 trainer? No-one seems to know the real story, although The Age on Monday reports Williams denying he has plans to change trainers. The Age says: 'For the past 12 months, Robert Hickmott has been No. 1 trainer for the millionaire owner, but despite Hickmott being ill for much of the past three weeks, Williams said there were no plans to replace him. Hickmott took over from John Sadler as Williams' main trainer after Zipping's third Sandown Classic win last year and it was rumored over the weekend that Hickmott, too, could be replaced after the Grp 2 race on Saturday. Williams did say that Hickmott was not the only trainer at the Mt Macedon complex. ''Simon Stout has been doing a lot of the work while Robert has been sick,'' he said.'

Lacking maturity...Apprentice Jason Maskiell, last season's runner-up in the Melbourne jockeys' title, has been sacked from his second stable in Melbourne and has gone home to Tasmania. Maskiel seems intent on detroying his promising career. Maybe the success of last season went to his head? He finished alongside Glen Boss in second place with 52 winners in Melbourne (15 behind winner Luke Nolen) but last week he got his marching orders from Caulfield trainer Robert Smerdon. Apparently he went missing for a few mornings when due to ride trackwork. Caulfield trainer Mick Price fired Maskiell for similar indiscretions.
