TRAINER Peter Snowden has both the spring's final feature races in his sights at Betfair Park on Saturday, with confirmation yesterday that the Sheikh Mohammed-owned Flemington carnival winners Purple and Kidnapped will run, reports The Age.

It says: Purple, who last Saturday added the group 2 Matriarch Stakes to her two group 1 wins of last season, will tackle weight-for-age for the first time in the Sandown Classic, while rising star Kidnapped will run as hot favourite alongside stablemate Khas Kura in the Sandown Guineas.

No trainer has taken out both races since John Meagher teamed up with jockey Steven King to score with Tawlord and three-year-old Voting in 1993. Last Saturday at Flemington, Purple won over 2000 metres at just her third run from a spell, and Snowden's son, Paul, who runs the Melbourne arm of the stable, said the mare was at her peak.

''She's the fresh horse on the scene and she's going as well as ever, so it's the best time to have a crack [at weight-for-age],'' he said.

While Purple is already a confirmed star of the enormous Darley team, Kidnapped is predicted to join her as a group 1 winner next season after two impressive winning efforts in Melbourne this spring.
