NEW Zealand trainer John Sargent has elected to shoot for the stars with his mare St Germaine at Eagle Farm on Saturday, reports the Brisbane Courier-Mail.
It says: Sargent nominated St Germaine for both the $500,000 Sky Racing Tatt's Tiara and the $100,000 Tatt's Mile. The shadow of class mare Beaded looms over her female rivals in the 1400m Tatt's Tiara, especially under weight-for-age conditions, but Sargent is happy to have a crack at the big time.
"The Tiara is a Group 1 race and worth five times the money," he said. "I appreciate we need everything to go our way to have a realistic chance of winning but it's worth a punt. This is the race we have targeted and I don't see much point in not having a shot now. The mare is in terrific order, her form is good and she's earned a chance at a Group 1 race against her own sex."
St Germaine has sound form credentials to be a worthy runner in the Tatt's Tiara. Her three runs in Queensland have all been good and she looks to be on the improve.
