Emotional scenes engulfed Goulburn on Monday when Wendy Walter trained her first winner at the track where her late husband Guy trained his last.

Wendy Walter and stable jockey Blake Shinn were locked in a moving embrace after Anecdote won the maiden.

Adding to the moment, Walter also saddled up Doubos, ridden by Kathy O’Hara, who ran second behind Anecdote.

Not long after Anecdote’s win, Goulburn Racing Club observed a minute's silence for Guy Walter, who died late last month and whose funeral service was held last Friday at Warwick Farm.

Shinn, who described Walter as a father figure, was choked with emotion after the race.

He and Walter teamed to win the Group 1 Doomben Cup last month with Streama.

Walter trained his last winners — Mihiri and Dragon Flyer — at Goulburn on May 20.
