TONY McEvoy will launch the Golden Slipper bid for Risen From Doubt in the Silver Slipper Stakes. McEvoy bypassed the Blue Diamond with his emphatic Maribyrnong Trial Stakes winner to focus solely on the $3.5 million Golden Slipper.

He said the Not a Single Doubt colt spent an extra month in the paddock after his Flemington win in early October.

“He was just growing and to bring him in for the (Blue) Diamond was right in the middle of a growth spurt,” McEvoy said.

“We had a discussion with the owners and they were very happy just to target Sydney.

“The horse has really benefited from it. That extra time has been fabulous for him.”

Sportsbet.com.au rated Risen From Doubt a $13 chance in its Slipper market, which sees Earthquake the reigning $4.50 favorite.

McEvoy said Eclipse Stakes winner Mouro, which also won the Sale Cup during a successful spring, is still about a week away from fast work.

He said the plan is for Mouro to be third up into the $3 million Doncaster Handicap on April 12.

“How I get to the Doncaster is something I haven’t finalized yet,” McEvoy said. (racingnetwork)
