TONY McEvoy will gain an immediate insight on where Risen From Doubt stands in the Golden Slipper pecking order after tomorrow’s Silver Slipper Stakes at Rosehill. Risen from Doubt, currently third favorite for the Slipper, resumes from nearly a five month spell when he contests the Group 2 race that features Magic Million winner Unencumbered, the Gai Waterhouse-trained Law and Team Hawkes-trained Mossfun, reports Racing Network.

Unencumbered is second favorite for the $3.5 million Slipper behind Earthquake with Law fourth favorite.

McEvoy said the Slipper had been the goal for the colt since he won the Maribyrnong Trial at Flemington on October 5.

“He’s going into this race very well, he’s not wound up, but he’s forward enough,” McEvoy said.

“All I can do is take a line through the form of Jabali and Boomwaa and that has held up through the autumn.

“This is a different group of horses and we need to see where all they sit. I’d like Hugh (Bowman) to ride him patiently and let him run home in straight and hopefully he’s good enough to round them up.”

Risen From Doubt, who defeated Jabali and Boomwaa in the Maribyrnong Trial, won a trial at Wyong on February 19 although he never really came off the bridle.

McEvoy said all his horses alternate in their work between the Melbourne and Sydney way and Risen From Doubt has now been at his Hawkesbury base for the past three weeks so he doesn't expect the clockwise direction to be an issue for the colt.
