Dual Group One winner Whobegotyou is the latest autumn casualty for trainer Mark Kavanagh.

Only a week after Kavanagh halted the autumn campaign of 2009 Melbourne Cup winner Shocking who pulled up below expectations following his win the Australian Cup, Whobegotyou has been sidelined with a ligament strain.

Whobegotyou was a last start winner of the Group Two Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington nine days ago, but Kavanagh reported on Monday morning that the five-year-old had a ligament strain.

"Unfortunately Whobegotyou is lame and is out until the spring carnival," Kavanagh said.

"He won't be competing in any further races this autumn.

"He has a mild strained ligament above a hock and we will be sending him to the paddock and give him some time to be right for the spring carnival."

Whobegotyou had been second favourite for the Doncaster Mile at Randwick on April 16 with More Joyous firming from $2.60 to $2.30 following his withdrawal.

Coolmore Classic winner Aloha is now second elect at $8.

The Blamey Stakes was only Whobegotyou's second run since he finished third to So You Think in the Cox Plate last October.

The popular chestnut resumed with a hard fought second to champion mare More Joyous in the Group One Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 26.

Whobegotyou has been a big race performer for the past three years and from 27 starts has won nine races and been placed in another 13 for earnings in excess of $3.1 million.

Setbacks and other problems have limited the five-year-old to two runs at each of his past four campaigns since his sixth in the 2009 Cox Plate.

The 2008 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) was his first Group One success and the 2009 Yalumba Stakes (2000m) his other at the elite level.
