Group 1 winner Suavito will miss the upcoming Spring Racing Carnival through injury.

Trainer Nigel Blackiston said the rising five-year-old needed an operation to have a bone chip removed from her knee.

“It’s in the higher part of the knee and it needs to come out and with the timing of it she’ll have to miss the Spring,” Blackiston said.

“It’s in an unusual part of the knee, you don’t really usually see bone chips in this part of the knee but the good thing is her recovery should be fine and she’ll be back for the autumn.

“She should be fully recovered within eight weeks but by then there will be nothing around for her so I’ll give her some extra time off and she’ll be back in the stable by the start of November to hopefully get ready for an Australian Cup (2000m) campaign.”

Last seen finishing seventh in the Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick in April, Suavito recorded a career-highlight when she claimed the Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield in February.

The daughter of Thorn Park boasts seven wins from 17 starts and has amassed $952,550 in prizemoney.
