Country trainer Luke Griffith is no stranger to Sydney racing but will break new ground on Saturday with his first metropolitan two-year-old runner.

Sutton Princess is already a winner over 900 metres at her home track of Scone and although he knows he is aiming high, Griffith is willing to give the filly a chance.

"There's not much around in the country at the moment and the way she won, she deserves a chance," Griffith said.

"I would be very happy if she could run a place but it is hard to line up country form against the city horses.

"At her first start at Taree she led and got run down late but it was still a good effort and then at home she just jumped out and kept going."

The filly is by first season sire Olympus out of Sutton Miss who was trained by Griffith and owned by Ross Lazarus who bred and races Sutton Princess.

Olympus was trained by Clarry Conners and did not reach his full potential due to niggling problems which curtailed his career.

"I know that early on they thought Olympus would be a Golden Slipper hope," Griffith said.

"I don't think this filly will be going there but I do think she has a bright future.

"And if the track is as wet as they say it might be it shouldn't worry her.

"Sutton Miss was very good in the wet."

The Griffith-trained Sutton York finished sixth to Apollo's Pride over 1100m at Canterbury on Thursday night.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Power Personified is expected to start a short-priced favourite to continue the winning run currently being enjoyed by the trainer in combination with the Gooree Pastoral Syndicate.

Waterhouse and Eduardo Cojuangco's operation claimed a Group One victory with Northern Meteor in the recent Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington and continued the form last week with Swift Alliance who is scheduled to back up in the Shed Enterprises Handicap (1300m).

Randwick clocker Craig Tompson has labelled Power Personified as the best two-year-old he has seen at Sydney's premier track so far this season.

Sutton Princess and Readyor are the only two of the eight runners in the Australian Income Protection Plate (1000m) to have been to the races and both are winners.

Readyor led all the way to win her debut on November 8 at Randwick over the same distance as her next assignment.

She will once again be ridden by Jeff Penza with leading Sydney rider Corey Brown aboard Sutton Princess and Nash Rawiller on Power Personified.
