Leading UK trainer Richard Hannon is planning a Caulfield Cup assault with Pether’s Moon, winner of the Grp 3 Glorious Stakes (2400m) at Goodwood last Friday.

One of the key staying races run at the famous Goodwood Festival, the Glorious Stakes is run over the same distance as the $3.15 million Caulfield Cup on October 18.

Hannan told horseracing.com.au he was looking at the Caulfield Cup as a definite option for the four-year-old.

"We like him a lot and he's very much one we'd like to keep as he's still growing into his frame.

"There are plenty of options for him abroad and the Caulfield Cup is one we're considering," said Hannon.

Pether's Moon has raced 14 times for four wins and has also been placed in the Group 2 Princess of Wales's Stakes.
