Manhattan Rain will miss the Sydney spring carnival, with Waterhouse instead targeting the Danehill Stakes at Flemington on September 5 as his resuming run.
Stradbroke Handicap winner Black Piranha also trialled at Rosehill yesterday, and finished second in its heat with Tye Angland aboard. Trainer Con Karakatsanis said Black Piranha, which was also the runner-up in the Doncaster Mile earlier this year, would resume from a spell in the Cameron Handicap at Newcastle on September 16.
