After an easy win at his second raceday outing, (11) Bon Rocket 9/1 appeals as an above-average type who can whip through the lower grades, so with this in mind I’m making him an eachway special for race 8, an RB64 hdcp 1200m at Cranbourne on Friday night. The Bon Hoffa 3YO, trained by Wendy Kelly, raced handy and wide to the turn in an RB58 (c&g) 1200m at Cranbourne on Dec 14 and lost a couple of lengths making the turn into the straight. He did, though, pick up quickly and sprinted strongly from the 100m to notch a comfortable win. That run followed his unlucky 6th/11 in Mdn ranks at Cranbolurne 1200m on Nov 30. Bon Rocket looks a smart type; all he needs is a spot of luck from a wide gate. The Mick Kent trained (15) Handsome Knight 13/2 could pose a danger first-up from a spell.
