Kelinni has attracted plenty of interest for the Sydney Cup following Saturday’s win in the Japan Racing Association Plate. The Chris Waller-trained stayer initially firmed from $5 to $4.20 after winning with 60kgs at Randwick. The win impressed one TAB customer who had $10,000 at $4.20 then $5,000 at $4 last night. The collect will be $62,000 if successful. TAB's Matt Jenkins told PPD: “Many punters overlooked Kelinni on Saturday thinking he would be peaking for the Sydney Cup and since winning on Saturday there has been very little interest for anything outside of the favorite....He is in-form and proven over the journey with a fourth in last year’s Melbourne Cup.”
Maluckyday, who hasn’t won a race since claiming the Lexus Stakes in 2010, is on the second line of betting at $6 for the Sydney Cup. Imported stayer Tac De Boistron ($21), who will be looking for wet conditions, has been the he best backed runner behind the favorite.
