More action looms in the 'great betting saga' involving jockeys Blake Shinn and Peter Robl. Chief steward Ray Murrihy is awaiting the jockeys' response to the charges and an initial hearing could be held on Friday. Robl was charged under AR83(c) with having bets or interests in bets on thoroughbred racing placed on a Tabcorp account held by his wife, Elaine Robl, between October 9, 2008 and September 29, 2010 (inclusive). He was also charged under AR175(g) with having given evidence that was false or misleading at the inquiry on September 29, 2010. Blake Shinn was charged under AR83(c) with having bets or interests in bets on thoroughbred racing placed between October 5, 2008 to September 29, 2010 (inclusive) on a Tabcorp betting account held by his mother, Carol Shinn, and between the July 17 2010 and September 29, 2010 (inclusive) on a Tabcorp betting account held by Elaine Robl. Both Carol Shinn and Elaine Robl, who are licensed persons, have been charged with being a party to the jockeys betting activities.
