Robbie Griffiths will monitor comeback sprinter Happy Glen during the week before deciding whether to back him up in Saturday's Redelva Handicap at Caulfield.

The Happy Giggle four-year-old made it two straight wins last Saturday when he won the Flying Handicap (1000m) at Moonee Valley at his fourth run in since suffering a severed tendon in a hind leg.

Griffiths explained that Happy Glen was galloped on when he won a three-year-old race at Sandown at his second run for him on January 28 this year.

"The veterinary surgeons on course kept the wound clean and bandaged and he went straight to the veterinary hospital at Caulfield," Griffiths said.

"It didn't go all the way through but the fibres had to grow and strengthen and it's been a marvellous result getting him back.

"He has the scar on the leg but he still has his flexion and no restrictions at all."

Griffiths said if Happy Glen wasn't ready for Saturday's Redelva (1100m) he would wait and run him in the Red Tempo Sprint (1000m) at Flemington on December 20.

"The handicapper didn't miss him. He went straight to a 91 rating (from a 74 rating)," Griffiths.

Happy Glen has raced 13 times for five wins and five placings, but has started just six times for Griffiths for three wins.

He won by a nose under 58kg in a 0-72 handicap at Moe on November 18 before carrying 51.5kg to beat Mrs Waters and Amerryking at Moonee Valley.

Ironically the gelding was ridden by apprentice Dean Holland who caused the injury to Happy Glen in the Sandown race last January.

Holland had been attempting to improve his position on Zizou in the Durbridge Handicap between Beau Esprit and Happy Glen at the 300 metres where there was barely room, stewards reported.

Zizou clipped heels, knuckling badly and dislodged the apprentice.

Meanwhile stablemate Danzylum will attempt to make it five straight in the Sky High Handicap (1400m) following wins at Wangaratta, Geelong, Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day and Bendigo.

"I'm very happy with him, he's in good order and I hope he can make it five straight," Griffiths said.
