VICTORIA'S leading trainer Peter Moody spent much of last week planning for the future with a $3 million-plus spending spree on yearlings on the Gold Coast, but this week it's down to immediate business as the stars of his team are readied for their returns, reports The Age.

It says: Moody said yesterday that he was so pleased with the condition of the reigning horse-of-the-year Typhoon Tracy that he had cancelled a planned jump-out at Caulfield for the five-time group 1 winning mare tomorrow morning.

''She doesn't need it as she's really come along well,'' he said. She's right on track to run on the 28th [of January] in the Australia Stakes and then she will follow a similar path to last year through the Orr and Futurity.''

Moody has also programmed a return in the group 2 Australia Stakes (1200 metres) at Moonee Valley for his promising middle-distance galloper Doubtful Jack. ''It's unfortunate that they have to start off together and they might have to clash a few times as they are on similar campaigns,'' he said. Also due to kick-off this month is Caulfield Guineas winner Anacheeva, who will resume in the 1200-metre Zeditave Stakes at Caulfield on Australia Day on his way to the $750,000 group Australian Guineas on March 5. The stable's unbeaten two-year-old Golden Archer will also run on Australia Day in the Blue Diamond Stakes Preview. The stable's star - Black Caviar - has been back about a week and is on track to add to her unbeaten run of eight wins in the group 1 Lightning Stakes at Flemington on February 19.
