Australian Derby winner Mongolian Khan has been installed as the $10 favourite with TAB to win the Caulfield Cup ahead of Hauraki ($12) and Volkstoknbarrell ($12).
With strong Sydney carnival form on their side, Hartnell and Winx are also amongst the top hopes at $15 with Preferment also expected to gain plenty of punter interest at that price.
“Mongolian Khan was impressive at the Australian Derby so we have it as the one to beat in the Caulfield Cup, however no doubt punters will be keen on the likes of Hartnell and Winx who were firing during the Autumn Carnival,” said TAB’s Nick Quinn.
In Cox Plate betting, Arod, Contributor, Criterion and Pornichet can’t be split at $11, with Arod expected to firm should he be confirmed for the race.
“Arod looks the best horse in the field which is hardly short of talent, if he is a confirmed starter his odds will come in. But Pornichet has to be respected off the back of his Doomben Cup win and is amongst the top hopes,” said TAB’s Nick Quinn.
